  • Abstract:

The review outlines the major topics of the academic conference on the American Studies held at RSUH in April 2025. Religion has always been a defining feature of American culture since the first British colonists arrived in the territory of the future United States. The contribution of religion and theology to the development of American culture and social institutions cannot be overemphasized, and it is only natural that historians and philologists, cultural and political scientists pay close attention to religious issues in American life, both past and present. The conference organizers proposed to concentrate on religious narrative in an interdisciplinary humanities field to identify the elements that shape American society’s vision of the Self and the Other in their various dimensions. The conference was attended by 65 Americanists from leading universities in Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan,  Nizhny  Novgorod,  Samara,  Ufa,  Arkhangelsk,  Kursk,  Krasnodar, Kaliningrad) and Belarus.

  • Keywords: conference, American studies, American literature, history and culture, the US foreign policy, religious discourse.
